NEVADA LEGISLATURE

Sixty-ninth Session, 1997
_______________

ASSEMBLY DAILY JOURNAL
_______________

THE ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTH DAY
_______________

Carson City (Monday), May 5, 1997

Assembly called to order at 11:04 a.m.
Mr. Speaker presiding.
Roll called.
All present except Assemblywoman Cegavske, who was excused.
Prayer by the Chaplain, The Reverend Bruce M. Henderson.
Wonderful Counselor, mighty God, eternal Father, Prince of peace. Yes, Prince of peace. We come to you on the day following holocaust remembrance day asking for understanding and tolerance and peace. While on this Cinco de Mayo, a victory is celebrated, it is peace that we greatly need. In these Chambers also we sometimes lose a handle on harmony, tolerance and love. Your writer was right when he penned, "How good and how pleasant it is when kindred dwell together in unity." As we begin our sixteenth week here, we ask for Your presence and for the unity You bring.

Amen.

Pledge of allegiance to the Flag.

Assemblyman Perkins moved that further reading of the Journal be dispensed with, and the Speaker and Chief Clerk be authorized to make the necessary corrections and additions.
Motion carried.
